Based in Vietnam since 2012, Douglas Snyder currently serves as Executive Director of the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC) which works to promote Vietnam’s sustainable building market through key private and public sector partnerships and technical advisement. With over 25 years’ experience, Douglas has worked on green built and energy efficient construction and development projects in the US and SE Asia. Project types have included public, institutional, industrial, educational, healthcare, commercial, and residential.
From 2016 to 2021, Douglas was Deputy Director of Sustainable Design for ARDOR Green in HCMC, Vietnam, overseeing LOTUS and LEED green building projects and EDGE resource efficiency projects. In 2014, he served as green building expert for USAID’s Vietnam Clean Energy Project providing recommendations to the Vietnam Ministry of Construction. From 2004 until 2016, he managed his own green building consulting firm in the US. Douglas has also provided consultancy to UNDP, the World Bank, ADB, and Vietnam Ministry of Construction and Ministry of Science and Technology.
Douglas was lecturer for business management and environmental science at the Vietnam National University from 2012-2022 and currently serves as board member of Keep Vietnam Clean, an environmental advocacy organization. Douglas received his MS, Organizational Management (2003), BS, Environmental Studies (1992), and LEED AP accreditation (2004).
